Establishing hedges or permanent plant strips helps to avoid erosion by heavy rain fall/wind on hilly fields

Comments on sustainability

The hedges or permanent plant strips on hilly fields can reduce or stop soil erosion by heavy rainfall/wind, so the valuable topsoil stays on the field. Nutrients and pesticides won´t be washed into surface waters and the plants and hedges store CO2 and offer a habitat for flora and fauna. On plane fields, hedges can stop erosion by wind and create a good microclimate. Initial costs are necessary.
