More efficient irrigation can enatil less nutrient leaching to water bodies and also a higher efficiency in plant uptake and nutrient management. Better irigation entails better soil conditions in general terms. Indirect positive effect on biodiversity, due to less water extraction from water bodies and less nutrient leaching from farms.
