Increased heavy precipitation in the autumn or winter months brings with it the danger of silting up and flooding, as well asof waterlogging. This can wash out seeds sown in the winter. A water-saturated soil can restrict the (root) growth of the sown winter crops or the cultivation on the field. The risk of erosion and nutrient leaching also increases.
